Children’s “work” during the preschool years is to learn through play. They learn fine motor skills by playing with play dough and develop balance and gross motor skills by playing on the playground. They “try out” real life situations through dramatic play, develop pre-reading skills through story time, and pre-math skills through music.
We believe in “play with a purpose”. This is play that helps develop the connections in children’s brains, helps them discover how the world works, and introduces them to basic academic concepts. It is play that teaches children how to think and solve problems and which readies them for the critical thinking and memory skills that are necessary for the primary school years.
Our goal is to have our students leave St. Bart’s loving school, being ready to learn, and being socially and academically prepared for kindergarten.
